MMA Cutting weight this week.

    I'm allowed to weigh in for my tournament without the gi. Which is awesome. I need to get to 199.9 by this Saturday morning and I'm at 211 as of this morning after not eating like a slob this weekend. Any tips? When should I start limiting my water intake? I've seriously reduced my calories for the week* and I'll still be rolling every day. I think I should be able to get down pretty easily.

    *banana for breakfast, can of tuna twice during the day, and protein shake before working out.

    Eat clean this week and cut water weight starting Friday around lunchtime. You should be able to cut 10 lbs of water weight pretty damn easy.

    You should of been on the ball before now.

    Water intake manipulation should of started 7 days out.

    Why people wait to the fucking week of a competiton to try and learn how to PROPERLY cut weight or anything of that manner is fucking beyond my level of comprehension.

    Should of been looking before now, IMO.

    I agree completely with Sylva. I start getting my weight in order 3-4 weeks ahead of time. But oh well, too late now.

    Just eat light this week, try to eat fibrous stuff so you poo it right out and eat small quantities AND low cal. If you eat a lb of edamame on Thursday...well...low cal or not, it's a pound of food in your gut. Avoid sodium or it will be much harder for you to cut.

    Other than that, have fun in the sauna! Drink a lot of water and pedialyte right after the weigh ins since you're already giving your body a big "fuck you."

    I've been training hard for weeks specifically for this competition, I just haven't been trying to cut weight because up until last week I was planning on fighting Heavyweight (200-225). :hs:

    you can cut most of it with crap or water weight. What you want to do is 2 days before weigh in start super hydrating. I mean drink 2 gallons of water a day and you will be peeing like a race horse and you will gain a couple of pounds of water weight. The night right before the weigh in a couple of hours before you go to sleep begin fluid restriction. Your body will still be pumping all of the enzymes to keep you pissing and you will be able to drop more weight that way. Also the water will keep you full and you wont eat as much.

    Try to eat alot of food that metabolizes really quick and goes right through your system. Ie. salads and tomato soup etc. You can loose some pounds based off of taking a shit. I start cutting weight 2 - 3 days before a weigh in depending on how much weight I have to lose anything else is pointless especially if your only losing 10 pounds or less.

    Stick to water restriction and light foods and your bowels will lose a couple of pounds and you will lose some water weight. If you need to lose any extra pounds ie. 2 - 3 pounds you can do it easily in a sauna. when I competed in judo I would cut 15 pounds like this easily within a couple of days.

    did you guys say cut water now?

    I double my water intake (2 gallons a day) till thurs (for fri weigh ins) for every gallon you drink you'll lose a pound.

    I just posted that in my long ass post. Any one that has ever cut weight properly knows that trick. How far ahead to you start your cut? every one here is saying like a week but Ive never cut that far in advance unless I had an event or something where I wanted to cut 20.

    sounds like a plan if you stop drinking water by thursday afternoon by the time you go to weigh in you should lose some water weight and plus you wont be as hungry because you will be bloated from water intake lol

    It definitely helps me with not being too hungry. I've kept my cals at 1500 this past month and it's been torture!

    yeah a lot of the time when people get hungry they are just really thirsty. I managed to cut 25 pounds in one month when I was trying to get back in shape just because I was drinking so much water. you just dont have room for food after awhile and your body stfu and stops begging for shit you dont need.

    Cant wait to go to thailand where water isnt free lol

    if i gotta diet i start about 4 weeks out. I cut my salt about 2 weeks out and switch to distilled water 2 weeks out. i cut water weight night before

    Yeah thats what I do my cuts in a similar fashion. If I only have to cut like 10 pounds I wont bother burning fat because you can get that squeezed out with out affecting performance by sweating it out and getting rid of some of the fesis in your system. I used to use dieretics but people are cracking down on them hard in the last year or so, now I would do it naturally.

    How much fat can you cut with out affecting performance? I can cut 5 in a week or two and not notice a difference but if I cut 10 lbs of fat I can feel a diffence. How much weight do you usually cut for a fight?

    i diet slow, 2 lbs a week tops starting a month out or so. thats if i'm doin fat.
