MMA Cutting weight sucks

    I picked up a fight this weekend on a weeks notice.

    I have to lose 10lbs.

    Being a 155 fighter it can't all be water weight.

    Blah, I'm hungry and what I just ate didn't help a whole lot.

    I'm gonna be miserable this week.

    When cutting the week before a fight, how do you eat? What and how often?

    i've been cutting over time, went from 180 and now down to 155. took me a couple months. I mainly just wanted to get my body fat down as low as possible and find a comfortable weight.
    I have never been so weak, and I feel liek I hit a wall, I am always tired, I am SO DAMN SICK OF EATING PLAIN CHICKEN, all I want to do is go out and get a huge cheeseburger and a shake, and somehow I just cant break into 10% and below body fat. :mad:

    I normally have a bit more time than this. Normally I start about 3 weeks out and really clean up my diet and ramp up my cardio. This gets me down to about 159-160. Then 2 days before the event I drasticly reduce my water intake. The day of weigh ins I do the sauna suit/sweat suit thing to cut the final 4 lbs or so. Last time this just got me down to 155.5 Being light with a super low body fat % makes cutting water weight kinda hard for me.

    With only a few days I'm basicly not eating. I'm gonna live off salad and light dressing for the next 3 days with LOTS of cardio. It can't be good for me but if I don't make weight I don't fight.

    Its in AL so they can pay their AM fighters and god knows I need the money(In Al MMA isn't sanctioned, they always pay their fighters down there.)

    Once you're there you can splurge every now and then. Just keep with it until you reach your goals. It will be worth it.

    yeah, for me its hard, geneticly i just store fat in the bottom of my belly, so right now i am bouncing between 11% and 12% body fat and I just barely have the toip 4 stomach muscles visable. :(

    My gf is getting sick of me never takign her out to eat so I told her once I can get to 10% and hold it for a week solid I will take her out to herfavorite resteraunt then get cold stone on the way hoom. :drool:

    I might have my first fight in late August and I wanted to be right around 160 and ripped, looks like i might fall a bit short :hs:

    its what has been saving my sanity. some nights when i just want desert really bad I throw a handfull of raasberries into a bowl of cottage cheese and mash them until it tastes good.

    I just wish I could find a fat free low sodium cottage cheese, my sodium intake has to be way too high.

    naw, it's geat. I eat it with some yogurt as my snack between breakfast and lunch, then i usually eat some just befor or after dinner.

    The guy I'm fighting fights at 145 and 155. So I should be bigger than him. I couldn't make 145 if I cut my arm off.

    So what does everyone add to cottage cheese to make it taste better? I wouldn't mind some other ideas...

    My ex gf always put that nestle strawberry syrup in it. you know, the stuff to make strawberry milk.

    Maybe Ill try that. Salad is gonna get old and I'm still starving.

    I liek it with Yogurt. the consistency is a little weird, but completely masks any taste of the CC.


    Also fruit is good, pineapple, rasberries, strawberries, peaches, etc..

    wheat germ.

    maybe a light granola or cereal.

    i bet you could probably mix a little crystal light in there and have a tastey snack :mamoru:


    really though, i love it with a little fat free light yogurt.

    that kind of goes away. if you stay really busy you wont get as hungry. weekends are always the hardest for me.

    rice cakes are good for me to just put a little food in my stomach in between meals. it is premeasured and aroun45 calories. a box of crackers never works for me becuase i will sit there and eat the whole box. Anythign that is premeassured makes life a lot easier.

    I'm all for weigh-ins the day of the fight so that we don't have people drastically cutting weight, and everyone having to do this to go down a weight class so they don't end up facing someone bigger and heavier come fight time.

    I really wish they would do this.

    I like it because I weigh 165. So if I fought at 170 ill still be undersized from guys that normally walk around at 180 before they start turning up the training.
