    in 23 days.

im considering competing at the gracie nationals on january 24 (gi) & 25 (nogi) at featherweight.

    im weighing 159 right now.
weighins would be on friday jan 23 anytime between 10am-9pm w/o gi.

4lbs would be nothing for the 155 class, but those other 10lbs to get to 145 scare the fuck out of me. :noes:

You can drop 5-6 by dieting in the next 23 days and then cut the next last 9 with water/food cut for the weigh ins.

    No problem.

well early registration for the tourney ends jan 10th. on that day ill make a final decision on which class to register for (155 or 145) depending on how my cut is going.

im 160 today (after a giant fatty fucking meal yesterday).
drinking lots of water, cutting calories to 11-13 times my bodyweight.
ill likely be suffering from a calorie deficit with increased training, but ill deal with that if it becomes a serious problem.
just hit the gym this morning for a superset circuit style workout.
and going to workout cardio tonight with running and cycle.
my bjj gym was closed today for holiday weekend, but there open tomorrow, so i get my jiujitzus time in tomorrow.

Won't your weight shoot back up afterwards because most of the weight you're dropping is water?

i have a high metabolism and normally walk around between 162-157.
getting below that 156 mark is going to be the hard part and im not treating that as a water cut, that will be from a calorie deficit.

obviously i still have a lot to learn on this process and i welcome anyones experienced advice. :wiggle:

alot of the time people with "high metabolisms" actually just dont eat enough or eat really crappy.

not to rain on anyones parade. I thought i use to eat alot and couldnt gain any weight little did i know once i tracked my calories i was getting 2300-2600/day of shitty food :mamoru: not enoguh to bulk

gaining/losing weight is more or less about nutrition and how you eat and want to gain/lose weight. not metabolisms:mamoru:

    yeah that's true

you can run 15 miles a day but if all you're taking in is shitty junk food its not going help.

i haven't gone to bjj class in 2 weeks (cuz they're closed for the holidays and it has been snowing like a bitch here) but i've been eating really healthy and I've dropped ~8 pounds since the start of December :bigthumb:

that isnt the case here. back in 2005 i bulked from 143 all the way to 180 while doing a powerlifting routine. it was fun, expensive, and at the same time sucked very very much. i was stuffing my face to the point of puking. so much tuna, milk, cottage cheese, weight gainers or mrps, blah blah blah. eating over 220g's of protein each day was the primary nutrional goal and pigging out on marginally clean food to fill out the rest.

    i am a hardgainer. :hs:
