I've been trying the 10xbw for an idea of how many cals i should be eating to lose fat. 2000 ain't cutting it, i'm still maintaining body weight and sometimes going over a little. it usually fluxuates from 218-224 even though i'm in the gym lifting 2-3 times a week, as well as cardio 2-3 times a week.

I eat clean 90% of the time not counting weekends where i'll cheat here and there (and drink :(). the first thing you guys are gonna tell me is to stop drinking on the weekends. I know this, and its a pain in the ass because i go out and dj and whatnot and its really, really hard not to drink. When I do drink i typically have vodka tonics.

So starting today i'm trying to bring my cals down to around 1500, stay on the 5x5 mon/wed/sat, and do HIIT during my lunch hour mon-fri with sunday off. This HAS to work for weight lost, my question is how "bad" is this for me, or would it be okay? I realize i'm not gonna see drastic strength gains, but for now i'm just looking to get down to 15%, thats my goal for this year.

Actual numbers don't matter what matters are your caloric needs. If you can't lose until you hit 1500, so be it. Better make sure you're estimating correctly though. A big mac does not have 400 calories, etc.

It's hard to tell you what to change when you don't exactly know what you're doing. Count everything, even the random drinks, for 1-2 weeks and see how much it adds up to. I don't know if you've been "dieting" for a long time but 2000 cals should be enough, maybe you metabolism needs a break.

i drink water, and skim milk with my shakes. no sodas, or diet sodas. i'm going by what are on the back of nutrition labels, and using fitday to count cals.

Yeah, I was mostly talking about the week-end drinks here and there. Find how much cals you take in in a week, divide by the number of days and you'll get a good idea where to start from.

me too. Starting serious today. bought lean meat, salad, tuna, shrimp, and veggies. I'm only going to drink water, no fat milk, and one diet soda a day. :bigthumb:

I'd bet you're still higher in calories then you need. i don't think you should drop to 1500 calories. You'd have to have a high BF percentage to need that little calories per day. You might want to drop the calories by a little at a time but i think its what you're eating, not how much you're eating.

You may have to drop to 8xbodyweight. That's what I'm having to do. the reality is that 10x bodyweight *is* maintenance for many people.

And yes- stop fucking drinking on the weekends ;)

Just ate my small, thin-ass steak and asparagus with no fat milk. Thought of OT while eating it.

ya, well I don't care if its diet or not.

its not just soda either, if you can't completely rid yourself of all your bad habits then how will you know that you will be successful with this diet. This is a lifestyle change, not a time to make excuses.
