I'd planned on picking up a Caspian stainless slide for my G23, as well as some Green/orange Trijicn night sights for it. I got to thinking, that I minus whale go ahead and have some custom work done to it while I'm at it.

Who would you all recommend for working on a Glock? I don't know exactly what all I want done. Probably some trigger work among other things. I'm not into grip work and all that. I'm also thinking about having the Caspian slide Black-T'd while I'm at it.

Thoughts on upgrades and companies to do it?

I will never understand why people want to take something so reliable and turn it into something that's finicky and specialized.

It's been stock for 2 years now. And, I don't plan to do anything permanant, so if I dont like it, I can change it back. :wiggle:

If that is your defensive pistol, KEEP IT STOCK.

If it was a "game" gun, or something you JUST take to the range. I'd suggest:

    Vanek trigger: http://www.vanekcustom.com/
    and Robar: http://www.robarguns.com/glock.htm
    Or SJC: (my preference) http://stores.sjcguns.com/Categories.bok?category=SJC+Components

These are some of the most highly regarded folks when it comes to custom glocks in the glocking world.

vanek triggers are the BEST around when it comes to trigger work. I've got the Grand Master trigger in the G24.

People mod weapons all the time; most of the time for the better. Why is it the Glock crowd always gets so uptight when you mention mods?

Yea, it works perfect the way it is now. But, IMO, there's always room for improvement. And, that's why i asked for opinions on who to send it to. I don't want to hand it over to some company who is going to do a hack job on it.

Will not be a carry gun. I'm not into the idea of being labeled a hitman or murderer because I defended myself with a modified gun that i had built specifically for killing preschoolers. I want to do it, because I want to do it. Know what i mean? No specific reason.

oh, well than go for the following links I posted up. I didn't know if this was your "main" gun, etc.

if you want to get really trick, Lone Wolf is coming out with a line of modified top ends that comes with barrel, slide and electronic optics and even surpressors.

they should have it out and marketing by tne end of this year. Then you can fool around with swapping it out for a .40/.357 or 9mm.

Because IMHO the only reason to mod a tool is to make it do more for you. I view my glocks as tools. Accuracy with after market barrels? No concrete evidence, and I can almost guarantee I'll out shoot you with my stock 19 barrel that's had 13K+ rounds through it... Slides? WTF is the purpose for an after market slide? Triggers? The glock 3.5lbs connector helps me reduce trigger slap, but that's about it.

Sights I can see because everyone is different. I replaced my factory sights with steel factory sights... Mostly because in training I use the sights to cycle the slide in some stoppage situations (rake it on my pant leg, bottom of my shoe, etc) and the plastic was starting to bend.

Because Glocks work. They're the Honda, AK47, the Engergizer Bunny if you will, of the handgun world.

And probably because they're tired of reading shit like "My Glock is an unreliable piece of shit, Glocks suck, I don't know why mine doesn't work. All the the stuff I've done to fix it and it STILL doesn't work...I've XXXXXXXXXX custom XXXXXXXXX melted XXXXXreduced XXXX dremel XXXXXXXXXXX extra grip XXXXXXXX polished the XXXXXXXXXX and lubed with the vaginal secretions of Swedish virgins."

Its your toy, do what you want. Glocktalk.com will net you plenty of places to get work done. But if its a tool you want to bet your life on, put good sights on it, and shoot the fuck out of it.

This is the only OTWMD accepted mod for your glock.

    DO. WANT. :naughty:

All kidding aside, I'm not looking to make the gun unreliable. If having work done to it will, in fact, make it unreliable rather than more accurate/better, then I will not be doing it. I'm not looking to ruin the gun, only make it better. Honest attempt.

I do appreciate all the input though. I guess I was under the impression that if other guns get custom work for better performance, then Glocks could have the same done.

If you want a gun to work on.... buy a 1911. :)

Kidding. I've got some mods for my Glock game guns ( I shoot 4 in competition ), but nothing that would jepordize reliability. Sights, connector, mag well, grip tape, SS guide rod. All you need. Invest the rest of your money in Holsters, belts, magazines and tons and tons of bullets.

I also have to note. If you start fooling around with your Striker, striker pin springs, plungers, etc. You better be shooting ammo with Federal primeres as you will experience a lot of "light strikes". Been there, done that. I can shoot a mag of 20 rounds and experience at least 1-2 rounds that have light strikes.

Federal primers are the softest primers out there.

I also agree, aftermarket barrels have NOT proven to be more accurate. It may be more supported and fit a little tighter, but they have also proven to be more finicky with ammo.
