i typically carry it at 5 oclock b/c its most comfortable. i like 3 oclock b/c its right on my side and it feels like a more fluid draw than at 5. not that i cant draw at 5 its just more fluid at 3

Try Crossbreed Quickclip. The most comfortable 3'o clock holster I've used, picture from their website.

I would not say anything without a full firing grip is functional in the sense that I want a holster to be functional but we all have our ideas :big grin:

They offer "combat grip" where they take off more leather. I got that on mine and full grip is possible with it. Some of their customers cut the leather backing themselves.

I carry my USP in a CTAC anywhere between 3:00 and 4:30-ish. It's plenty comfy for me.

since its a hard holster it presses against my greater trochanter and rubs on it. i guess if i had more cushion on my hips it wouldnt be bad but since its a hard holster its annoying.

i like being able to adjust the height/cant of the ctac but i just need some cushion behind it

Ditto. I try to get it to stay at ~3:00, but it never does. Always ends up at 4-4:30.
    It's comfy there anyway.
