When it comes to working out, I am not open minded. You either lift with a clear goal in mind while making your body more physically attractive or you are just wasting your time.

This is why I do not understand Crossfit. All I see is a workout that is too demanding for myself and most of their members. I don't understand the goals of the workout. I don't understand the routine of daily workouts.

Is this a joke? Is it a fad? Is it a ponzi scheme? Is it a social hangout for those that can't cut it in a regular gym? Why spend thousands of dollars on becoming certified on how to lift weight like a retard?

I must be clearly missing the value of Crossfit.

I think it builds a good athletic base that a lot of people can benefit from.

For guys with specific powerlifting goals in mind, it's not going to work, but it is a fairly fun way to be active, which is why a lot of people are in the gym at all.

It is a weird ass cult like group of people, especially as you start getting into the traininer side of stuff. You have to do a bunch of seminars to get to be a level 1 trainer, and then more and more to be a level 2, etc. I can't remember the exact terminology of it, but it was a crazy amount of money you'd have handed out in seminars and classes to be a top crossfit trainer.

The goal of someone who does CrossFit is to increase their ability to do work across broad times and modal domains.

It's a great workout for the weekend warrior who might go participate in whatever sports his friends come up with that week. Whether it be a foot ball game, mtn biking, snowboarding etc... it'll train all parts of the body to be able to accel. 6 weeks of crossfit got me in better shape for this snowboarding season than lifting alone and moderate intensity cardio ever has in the past.

Is it good for body builders, power lifters, elite sport specific athletes, or anyone with a more specific goal? NO

It's good for people who want to be active and drop some extra weight. And you feel fucking amazing after you get past the pukey stage.

I enjoy the crossfit workout. I don't necessarily do they're specified plan, but I do an all over workout (chest, back, legs, core, shoulders, arms) 3 days a week. The benefit to me is I to 2 run thrours of 10 weight exercieses @ 20 reps and 2 sets of 50 crunches. I can get 600 reps done--setting up weights, doing exercises, and taking them back down--in 45 mins. That helps considering I have school on MWF and work 3rd shift. On Tuesday and Thursday I'll do heavy lifting jsut to change it up a little, and do cardio on both days (plus BJJ classes on Saturdays).

not everybody wants to be crazy strong or a big cut BBer... most people I see in the gym using machines just want to look like brad pitt in fight club or that chick in Million Dollar Baby. People like to pick on crossfitters more than those people, whereas at least crossfit is looks seriously demanding and like it builds a good amount of athleticism.

I'm probably going to start some classes this summer because I want to become more flexible. It might be a fun way to achieve that not to mention a method of staying on track, because any time I stretch consistently I end up stopping once I achieve some improvement because i'm a moran.

It's great for people getting in to general shape. Huge communal vibe, supportive atmosphere, entertaining workouts. People do it and look great as in-shape people, not PLers, not BBers, not super jacked people - but they're in sick shape and having fun and wanting to workout with others.

Who cares how gay it is? It's physical exercise and it helps you get into good shape. Our country is fucking disgusting in how obese it is; more people should do gay shit like crossfit. Even though its kinda gay.
