MMA-ID (www.mma-id.com), proud sponsor of Mirko Cro Cop, has learned in the last few hours that Cro Cop will be facing dynamic heavyweight striker Jerome LeBanner. The bout is scheduled to take place at DREAMS 4 on June 16 in Saitama, Tokyo. LeBanner is 3-1-1 in mixed martial arts, last competing in 2006.

Earlier this week we were able to visit Cro Cop at his gym and witness his training. The rumors of Cro Cop's next opponent being a K-1 star have been strong and Cro Cop was definitely preparing for a southpaw! Unfortunately we couldn't get Mirko to talk too much about his upcoming opponent; when we asked specifically about LeBanner our answer was a mystic grin and "Oh, that one would be good, right?". All other questions about potential opponents were met with a "no comment". But that's all it took to get the gears turning and after some phone calls, we can now confirm that Cro Cop/LeBanner is scheduled for DREAMS 4 in what is sure to be full of explosive action!

i'm confused....so he ducks a bunch of no names and Semmy Schilt because "he's too tough right now", but he wants to fight LeBanner...should be good

I would really like to see Cro Cop play a ground game in this one.

    Jab/shoot/GnP to victory.

Really show that his game has evolved.

he would have to GnP or submit LeBanner

  9. why? Lebanner is chinny and Crocop hits hard.

Crocop beat Lebanner when Lebanner was in his prime and Crocop was just a young kid.

That match happened in 1996 and I thought it was a pretty close fight. LeBanner has almost 90 K1 fights vs TOP K1 contenders and he's been active up till last year. LeBanner will beat Mirko stand-up Crocop hasn't competed in K1 in 6 years.

How is lebanner chinny? and he hits HARD. If cro cop does what he usually does, and thats try to prove he is the better stand up fighter, he stands a good chance of loosing. Imagine what would of happened if he actually tried to work on the ground against hunt and kongo, but i think he is too stubborn.

lots of fighters do that. it's a mental thing i think.

Cant deviate away from what they are most comfortable at, even if it means losing. Look at Wandy, in round one vs Chuck he was playing passive and actually fucking with Chuck's game and winning the stand up, then he turned right back into Wandy and started pressuring like crazy and swinging caveman hooks.

Cro Cop's ground game has to be getting pretty damn decent after spending so much time with Werdum and Lister.

thats what jeff and i were talking about before- we think he needs to change camps and revamp his game- but he will never do that EVER.
I will be stoked/impressed as hell if he get jerome on the ground and beats him, i dont think he would be expecting it.
Only thing is, i really like both fighters, jerome by far being my fav HW in K1

i think he just got back together with his original striking coach which should be a really good thing for his stand up.

i know what you mean. 6 months at Greg Jacksons camp and I see Cro Cop being a whole fighter. oh well.

I would rather see LeBanner ruin Tim Sylvia and his "amazing jab"
