Here is the design for my new blog--Tollbooth Confessions. Comments/criticisms accepted. I can't code for shit, but I can design decently. I think it looks tight, although the post format needs a little tweaking. This layout is centered in the page. The Clinton post is just a copy/paste from CNN to test huge blocks of text.

Things that I still want to do:
    - Edit the "Latest Images" box to make it more attractive and width aligned.
    - Figure out how to get rid of that blank space next to the author of the post :mamoru:
    - Make the actual post themselves look a bit more attractive.

  2. meh, the brick wall takes away from the design as does the post design. some margin up top would be nice too.

    - Latest images goes too far to the left, out of its column
    - Too hard to read the post on that brick background. Maybe stick all the content on a solid background and leave the brick for the sides or something?

Yeah, that's kind of the idea. I can try finding a concrete painted background (which is what the Mass Pike is), but I'm really not that diehard

looks pretty good. Although the post dates are hard to read with the white text on yellow background.

  11. i think he'd be better off putting the left column content in a long black box like the right column to match, it would definitely be an improvement over the current design.

    Really nice but too dark.

  15. that's what i'd do, but one long box instead of seperate boxes per post. that way it's easier to determine from a quick glance where the content is.

Avoid 'reverse type' at all costs. Add a white background strretching 20-30px wider than the content and keep the brick background. Make the text a dark grey color to lessen the harsh contrast of pure black on pure white.

It should look pretty sharp then.
