These are some nightshots my husband took a few nights ago. I'd like to hear what OT's experts have to say about the composition, exposure, color temp, etc. Good or bad. If bad, please offer me some info on what would make them better, please don't just say they suck and leave it at that :p

Anyway here are some pics, taken in RAW and not adjusted:

    Thanks in advance :wavey:

1st 3, good exposure, good WB.

last one, not so much.... I'd scrap that one all together.

the 1st is the most boring out the bunch, but the next 2 get a little better. The location on #2 is promising. some different looks focusing more on the sun thing could be cool. the 3rd has some nice leading lines that pulls you all the way thru the image, but could use something to spice it up a bit... not sure what though

He's trying to get the hang of photography altogether. Any recommandations for taking pics of single buildings, or is a cityscape/multiple buildings better?

    Thanks for the input :)

either get the whole building or look for interesting patterns in the building.

not the best of examples... but like this one... the entire building wasn't that interesting, so I focused on the pattern created by the glass wall, and the pillars.

or here.. the entire building was much more interesting from this distance, than just part of it.

Cool, thanks :) In my opinion, there are very few buildings in our downtown that are interesting alone, but next time we can go see if they have any interesting patterns within, like the top one you posted. I wish they would do our downtown with more interesting achitecture. The City Hall Building is one of the very few that even have any interest aside from being a giant rectangle rising from the ground :hs:

This is very true of Phoenix..

However, the Phoenix Public Library (aka Burton Barr Central Library) downtown looks awesome at night. If I was still in Phoenix, I'd definitely take pics of it.

It's on my list of places to shoot at. There's a ton of light rail construction going in that immediate area so things are a bit of a mess right now. If I atill had my truck I would have no problem driving through there, I used to jump curbs in it  The mess on the southern end of downtown is less hectic now. Unfortunately on this night we ended up going just as a ball game was letting out
