My parents were are out visiting and it was a great excuse to go out and shoot some nature stuff. We went hiking today in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains here in Albuquerque and I got some shots I liked.

I was also trying to get some pics for the contest ;)

Here are some of the pics that stood out in my mind as good. Feel free to critique, I just take photos for fun and have no experience or schooling on how to do anything.

All photos are with a Nikon D50 and Sigma 10-20mm lens.

    The trail:

Cactus flower. I should adjust the levels in photoshop:

A pile of rocks. Someone must have set this up. I thought it looked cool with the little spiky bush behind it and the bright blue sky:

I saw this stump about 20 feet off the trail so I went out to take a pic of it. Low and behold there was an egg sitting next to it. I didn't disturb the egg but tried to include it in some shots. I have no idea what kind it is but it was larger than an egg you would get at the grocery store.

A cool plant stem coming out of a bush. I liked how it kinda spiraled into the sky:

Those are the ones I thought were good. The rest can be found here:

Just a UV filter as a protector for the lens.

    They look good.
Nothing spectacular but all of them are good solid landscape photos.

I'm really impressed that you can live in Albuquerque, doesn't it have the largest suicide rate in america behind seattle or something? What a depressing shit hole.
