Im doing purs routine, minus squats (i know, i know), but with deadlifts. on a variation of his diet - heres the stats after inputting it all into fitday (this includes PWO shake, which i dont have on non workout days) my breakfast varies from purs recommended.. i know, i know. I take no eggs or protein powder, just a bowl of nutri grain and all bran.. stats all there though.

Now ive read the stickies (brolyhost shouldnt still be up ther right?), and im still not finding enough information about p/f/c ratios etc.. anyway heres me

im about 5'11'', and weigh about 85kg (about 185lbs) (this includes a bit of a gut :) my goals.... well, just for the time being im happy putting on bulk. Im not after vascularity (!), i would just like a more solid build. ive made some solid gains in the past few months, even though i know my diet is weak (not enough of everything) - so it that what you guys would just recommend? a shake for breakfast (along with my current breakfast), even on non workoutdays? snacking on more tins of tuna? easy enough, but thers always the matter of p/f/c ratio that im really unsure of. thanks for reading, any help woudl be appreciated... im off to be now but ill be able to check soon!

I'd replace the cereal with eggs and/or protein shake. I'd also replace the beef steak with something that has less fat e.g. chicken breast.

    Why aren't you squatting?

the fats are from good sources and if you are going to continue eating them you could add squats and some cardio to compensate

If you're going to eat that much fat, you should be eating trace amount of carbs. Otherwise, aim for 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat or 40/30/30.

*edit - I see your carbs are mostly good for a low carb diet. Just cut out the beans/peas/corn and shit, keep it green and you'll be good.

    148.6f(9 calories) = 1337.4cal
    127.6(4 calories) = 510.4
    240.9(4 calories) = 963.4

    = 2811.4 calories

    Am I missing something here?

I would probably try to get eggs in there somewhere. I fucking HATE eggs but I bought some liquid egg whites the other day and they're fantastic.

Have eggs in the morning instead of the cereal

Maybe cut the almonds down to 100g a day instead of 125g

I think the chicken and beef steak are fine. Yes there's some fat there but you shouldn't avoid saturated fat altogether.

And as others pointed out, there's a bug in your fitday for some reason. Look at your last two meals.. they have values for carbs, fat, protein.. but ZERO calories

Some suggestions I would personally make...

    - Cut the carbs. I get 80g on workout days, around 50 on non, and I'm about same height/weight as you (albeit a lot diff LBM).
    - Up the protein to compensate.
    - Drop some fat (p/f ratio imo should be about similar)
    - Do more enjoyable cardio. I can't stress this...people might look at me funny, but I actually enjoy bringing in a novel (lol just finished Harry Potter series) while doing some incline walking for 30-45m 2-3x a week.
    - Like others said, get rid of cereal and get some oatmeal for breakfast.

It might just be an old rule of thumb, but when dieting I always as a general rule start out at BW (in lbs) x 14. Go for a few weeks and adjust accordingly (most likely drop it by 100-150 calories)

Also it sucks at first, but get used to eating about the same things every day it makes you stricter and also puts you into the mindset where you don't enjoy food for being good anymore but rather just for nutrition. Helps me put down some possibly rather bland tasting foods...but all work and no play isn't the best either.

ye i read your thread the other day about liquid eggs... your ones you dont even need to cook? you can just throw them in a shake? that sounds mightyily convenient. i really enjoy eating the cereal in the morning though, helps morning bowel movements etc. unless your suggesting i cut the cereal due to the carbs?

ive just gone and bought one of those shake containers that have a grill at the top - ill start taking whey in the morning now too. im also eatiing potatoes now - 3 mins in the microwave and theyre set - marvelous

yeh, thats the biggest reason i started this thread.. im doing purs routine, and i love it, not boring, set exercises etc, then it comes to my diet (you konw, the most important part), and im not even sure why im eating the foods im eating and so i slacken off. now though ill have the structure and discipline that my routine has !

thanks for all your feedback guys

Yup that's right - no cooking, separating etc.. just pour and drink. I'm quite a fussy eater and I stomach them just fine - you can't even tell that they're mixed in.

    Sounds good

Yup - but you need to sort out your fitday. Those last two meals need re-entering.. they can't be zero calorie. And you don't want a dumb mistake like that to make you eat 2800kcal instead of 2200kcal and you wonder why you're not losing weight.
