I'm sold. On SigForum.com there is a group buy going on right now where you can buy new CTC lasergrips for only a few dollars above dealer cost. I'm definitely going to buy a pair for my Sig.

    Interesting.

on topic.. most of the topics covered in that vid are covered in point shooting, anyway. I'm still not convinced about the necessity of a laser device.

I've practiced point shooting before and I think I'm proficient enough with it, its an interesting setup for the price I just dont know. Plus the bastards dont make it for my usuall goto gun.

Welcome to the bastard pistol club. At least other accessories for yours are fairly widely available.

:werd: I can get most stuff, gotta becarefull with certain holsters sometimes there molded from the 9mm P99 and .40 has a wider slide. My 2 Glocks will be sold Tuesday :eek3: whatever I couldnt get the Walther atleast I could get for them, but they will be replaced by either another P99 in 9mm or a .45 USP whichever I come across for a good price first. Anything on Stery making any .45's? There prices are pretty damn good I could swing a P99 and Stery at the same time, cannt do the USP and P99 at the same time :hs:

Nothing yet, the SA1 is probably their main thrust right now, and they're still setting up distribution in the US.

The Steyr has seriously spoiled me. I will not own an XD, or a Glock, and have limited to HK and Walther. I really want a P99.

I played with the .40 steyr in gun store felt pretty good, so I'm sure the 9mm would too, but I cannt afford that and a USP at the same time either. I probably should of held onto the G21 longer. I see Walthers released or is releasing a tan framed P99 now, nothing on any new calibers though, I hear theres a .357sig conversion coming out for the .40 but I can't say I have any intrest in picking one up, to expensive to shoot and not really that much better performance.

Shoot it. You'll likely buy it.

I'm thinking about a compact 1911 type. I'm just not going to drop more than 500 on anything.

It's double the price of Crimson Trace grips, being inside of the pistol subjects it to all of that heat, stress, oil, etc. and after a lot of shooting the laser gets distorted with a buildup of crud, it voids the warranty on your gun because you must replace the factory guide rod and spring (depending on the manufacturer, for S&W it voids it but for Glock it doesn't), the Lasermax has an on/off toggle switch only whereas Crimson Trace has both on/off and a momentary pressure switch (this is a very big deal), Lasermax is damn near impossible to adjust from the factory setting, and you have to replace the spring every 2,000 rounds which sucks the big one.

Before deciding on the Crimson Trace grips I did my research and was rather shocked to find out how many reliability issues there were with the Lasermax, go on ARFCOM, Sigforum, etc. and do a search for Lasermax.

how much are you paying for the crimson laser? the laser max can be bought for on average $250

if you have to replace the spring every 2k rounds (which i failed to find on their website) why wouldnt you have to replace the factory spring every 2k rounds? as far as the reliability issues, i see a positive for every negative comment. just as with anything else.

Crimson trace is adjustable and if it breaks you only lose your laser. Laser max isn't adjustable and if it breaks your gun quits working. CT is easily used with 1 hand.

Don't get me wrong the laser max looks cooler, but function wise I think the crimson trace wins easily.

How do you activate the Lasermax? motion of the weapon being drawn or aimed?

I believe they usually replace the takedown lever with a new one with a nub on each side for most guns and you push to either side to turn it on, center it to turn it off.

Oh yeah the other issue with lasermax, its at the front of the muzzle and prone to getting really dirty really quick.

depends on what gun its on but i know on glock it replaces the field strip levers and it turns it into a button you push from side to side
