    So I'm creating a header** for a website, and I want the tabs to "pop" up on rollover. I've achieved this, but I'm having trouble getting the other functions to work. If you rollover, it pops up just fine, but if you click, it replays the animation, instead of just releasing from the downstate. I haven't used any actionscript, so far it's just a movie clip. If anyone could help out or point to where I could reference help, I'd appreciate it.

    Here's the header, it should show up full screen for the preview.

    Why not just use java & css instead of flash?

    I honestly wouldn't even know where to start with that. I know HTML and basic CSS, but that's about it. Would it be easier that way?..

    need to add the action onPress or onRelease to the button and call your url.

    i tried this...

    onPress
    about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,function():void {
    trace(”down”);
    }
    );

    onRelease
    about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,function():void {
    trace(”up”);
    }
    );

    onRollOver
    about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,function():void {
    trace(”over”);
    }
    );

    onRollOut
    about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT,function():void {
    trace(”out”);
    }
    );

    but it's saying the down, out, up, and over states have syntax errors. i'm just now learning flash/as3. thanks for the help.

    about_btn.onRelease = function() {
    getURL("insertyourpageURLhere");
    };
