So I don't know what is happening with my car. A few eeks ago it started slipping between gears really bad. Sometimes I had to put it into neutral to give the revs back down. The shop I took it to told me the tranny was busted and that it wasn't the fluid as I suspected. They told me it needed a rebuild. I took the car back without a rebuild as it was going to me mucho dinero.

Since getting it back its like it fixed itself or something. After I got it back from the shop it stopped slipping gears and I haven't been able to get it to slip since. I did put some tranny fluid in it just before I took it to the shop. Do you think it has an intermitant problem or do you think it could have just been the fluid? Now I don't know if I should replace the tranny or not. What do you think?

Wait and see if it does it again.

    What car/trans is this?

    Was the fluid low?

What fluid did you put in it?

Keep this in mind, the shop makes more $$$ if they rebuild your trans then if you just add fluid.
Not to say they are dishonest at that particular shop, but it does happen.

I think they just wanted to rebuild it now. I think the fluid was maybe a little low and dirty.

The car is a suburu svx.

Dextron III for high mileage cars was what I put in it I believe.

    Oh, nice.
    Kinda rare car....

How many miles does it have on it?

IIRC at least some of the SVXs had crappy trans though [the autos].
I don't remember if it was all the years or just some.

once the tranny slips like that it's screwed. I bet it will come back and be even worse. You need to take care of it or you'll need a new tranny.
