My buddy is building a new system, but doesn't play any video games at all... He is a pretty rich guy so I don't want to give him a POS, so what is a nice, cool-running but somewhat cheap video card that's not going to crap out on him or need driver updates every 2 months?

Replies are much appreciated.. and if you can help me with the rest of his purchase I may just buy you a month sub for the trouble :) thanks

    that is a decent choice.
new cards are right around the corner though, and there will most likely be a low-end card that's cheap.

he's not doing ANY games... an 8600 is severe OVERKILL for what he's doing. Therefore, it's fine.

I'd say get a 2600XT and call it a day... You get two dual-link DVIs, you get tv-out, you get hdmi out, you get hardware hd decoder, etc. Good card and it's less than $100. Get the 3850 for a few bucks more, if that's what he wants.
