When benching I consistently get cramps in the muscle right above my leg pits or whatever you'd call them, at the bottom of the back side of my thigh.

It only happens in one leg at a time. What causes this? Am I pressing really hard in my leg and not realizing it?

Is this only during a heavy sets or all the time?

I would think it would be the position of your legs. Are you stretching before workouts?

I often feel a bit of a groin strain when doing heavy bench :dunno: Goes away after 30 seconds though.

    leg pits? LOL

You're getting a hamstring cramp. Hydrate better, grow some flexibility, and practice strict set up form on all of your sets -you'll get more used to going into a proper setup.

Okay, right out of left field here... what does shoulder cracking during military press have to do with hamstring cramps while benching? Quick answer: nothing.

Fish oil is good for joints, but far fewer people have real joint problems as compared to jacked up musculature around the joint which causes pain/snapping/cracking in the joint area. It's still a muscular problem, not a joint problem, so fish oil isn't going to help. Look at getting some massage done, preferably active release therapy (ART). It hurts like a mother, but works and works very fast.

No more than a regular massage. I pay $300 for 5 1 hour sessions. Be warned; it's really, REALLY painful. LIke "ohh. cpop told me it will hurt but this shoul... JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME" sort of hurt. If it didn't work I wouldn't do it. It gets better the more you do it. The first time I went I was bruised for about 2-1/2 weeks.

damn, and I thought getting a deep tissue massage sucked. I've had bruises before but for 2 weeks? Sounds brutal.

It was. Still, the doctor told me 3-4 months before I could start benching. I benched 450 raw in comp 8 weeks later. ART works.
