Ok, today while driving my windshield got a 3 inch long crack. Damn construction trucks

Anyway, my deductable is $500, to replace it, I would have to pay the insurance $500. I can get a new windshield fr $200 BUT I don't want to spend that right now.

Is there a way to make the crack to not get longer and spread? I want to wait a few months before I get a new windshield. This crack is not noticable, but it could be if it moves another couple of inches.

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

I know there is a resin-type repair, but as far as I know, it is only for the 'star' type breaks.

Just keep an eye on it for a few weeks to see if it gets worse. Sometimes, they don't get worse and that will buy you some time. I wouldn't drive over any railroad tracks at 75 mph before you fix it.

BTW, just curious--how exactly were you driving your windshield? :big grin:

You could try smearing some clear caulking over it.. that would hold it together longer.
