I've been looking at Millet's DMS since it's a 1-4X and pretty cheap. Has anyone tried this or any similar 1x4 scopes on their ARs?

Thanks I've been looking for somethign similar. I wanted an accupoint but for what I use my rifle for I don't really need a $600 optic.

If you're solely worried about close quarters just go with a 1x optic. I've had no problem shooting consistently to 500m with a 1x.

edit: Before I get jumped by gun crew, I mean hitting an Ivan, not shooting ridiculous groups. That in my mind makes it great for 0-300m in practical situations, and you can always add a 3-4x magnifier later if you feel like it.

since you are primarily concerned with CQB scenario why not go with a cheap reflex sight?

Fixed power optics were great back in 2000, you could not be cheap and get one that allows for another sight too

Why would you want magnification for CQB?

Referring to the 1-4x or the ACOG? I want the 1-4x mainly so I can have one optic for multiple uses... Obviously a 24mm objective lens isn't ideal for CQ, but if you can easily reach out to 200+ yards with that same optic it would be a fair compromise IMO.

So you also have the option to shoot the rifle, like a rifle (long range). While you certainly can hit targets out to 400 without magnification (if you had some good eyes). It certainly is much easier with magnficaton. The modern low power varables also are excellent CQB sights at 1x. It's all about the versitility.

Besides the point if I ever had to use my AR for HD I'd probably be point shooting anyway, from any given points A to B in my house the longest I'd have to shoot would be maybe 10 yards, but from behind my bed to the bedroom door it's like 10 feet.

Didn't even think about this, but would having a fixed FSB be an issue with a 1-4x?

I want something that is variable power. I'm leaning towards an Accu-Point

I had a Millet on an AR...

It was 'iight. My only real complain was that it didn't have turrets on it (though most Ar stuff doesn't).
