Alright, well I just built this machine. Sonata, nforce 2, radeon 9800 pro, XP 2600+, etc. When first booted, the BIOS was reading the CPU like crazy, it would hop from 23C to 43C, back and forth.

Now, once windows was loaded and various motherboard management software was installed (MBM5), I watched the temps again.

    Case: 23C
    CPU Diode: 50C
    CPU Socket: 33C

Alright, so I figured, well either its one of two things; either the HS is defected or the CPU has a faulty temp sensor. What do I do? I buy a larger HS (Thermal Intake, designed up to XP 3400+). I figured this would do the trick, well low and behold, with that HS in, Diode is reading 50-56C on virtually no load.

So, could anyone give me some input? Is the sensor just reading incorrectly or what? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Alex
