They’re still trying to call me the heavyweight champion. I resigned and relinquished the title. Nogueira’s in my opinion the champion now in the UFC…I need to be free and clear of that before I can pursue this fight somewhere else with Fedor (Emelianenko). I’d love for the UFC to step up and make the fight happen. It has the potential to be the biggest mixed martial arts fight to date…It has the potential to do 700,000+ pay-per-view buys which is a helluva lotta money. I think 6-10 [million should be the salary] for each of us and they’re still gonna make a boatload of money on top of that.

-Former (or current, depending on who you ask) UFC heavyweight champion Randy “The Natural” Couture tries to crunch the PPV numbers during a recent guest appearance on The Adam Corolla Radio Show. Couture is currently in exile after walking out midway through his UFC contract and does not wish to return to action unless a bout with WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko can be arranged.

under the ufc banner i could see it doing 700k+ buys. but under affliction? Randy's got hype, but they need to build Fedor's name alot more to the average ppv buyer to get that under the affliction banner

2 million would be stretching it. He's expecting a 600% raise.

This fight could sell 700k buys or more in the UFC with the brand name and marketing machine behind it... Outside of the UFC, I think 250k buys would be more reasonable, yet still optimistic.

If he is so confident that he can generate this kind of buy rate, then he should either a) promote the fight himself like Oscar does in boxing or b) take a very limited guaranteed purse and negotiate in a decent % of ppv buys.

looks like he is trying to get that one last pay day before he calls it quits. If randy gets this he is set up for life. With all the other business ventures he has like xc etc he will never have to fight again. This is just his retirement plan.

    Randy needs to get bent.

Fuck him. He wants to cash in because he knows he has no chance and this will be his last fight that anyone would ever care about.
