This fight is giving me fits.

I can't pick a winner for the life of me and I keep second-guessing myself.

    1) I think Couture is too wily and good to get caught in a submission or get KOed by Gonzaga within the 1st 2 rounds, past then, we don't know who will have the advantage with the gas tank.
    2) Never bet against Randy

Gonzaga is younger, bigger, possibly hungrier. Should have the advantage on the feet and on the ground, and could be big and strong enough to nullify Randy's wrestling.

But even looking back now, how would people theorize Randy winning against Sylvia in a 5 rounder?

Can Randy keep it on the feet and clinch/dirty box against the cage? If it goes to the ground, how will he do with Gonzaga in his guard? If it goes past the 3rd, will Gonzaga get tired and allow Couture to take control and grind out a decision or even go for a GnP stoppage?

I'm seriously at a loss here (mainly because I find it very hard to bet against Randy "Game Plan Execution" Couture).

What's everyone else thinking, and why?

Tough fight for Randy as Gonzaga is a big strong grappler my prediction Randy will tough it out for the first few rounds and dominate a gassed Gozaga.

Thats how I see it going down as well. I really hope Gonzaga gets overconfident with his standup and ends up taking one of Randy's right hands early in the first round though.

That is how I see it... I think Gonzaga will take it to him the first round or two, but Randy will tough it out and make a comeback to win via decision...

It can go either way, and randy is a good guy and seeing him lose would be tough, but i think Gonzaga stops him.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Being usually disappointed with the main event i see it going as, gonzaga takes down randy throws alot of strikes and elbow connects with only half of them and the ref stops it alittle early:hsd:.

For some reason this is a fight where I'd actually like to see a decision victory (by Randy). Its like even when Randy wins by decision he is still pushing the pace, he varies he takedowns, he tries for submission chokes.

randy is one of the best fighters in mma when it comes to strategy thats what I like about him. Most likely he has already disected this guys game and has a ground and pound strategy set up for him. what I like the most about randy is he knows how to push the fight with out expending more energy then he needs to.

I think this is a bad match up for gonzaga because randy can bang and when it comes to grappeling the biggest problem BJJ guys have is the ground and pound wrestlers especially when they decide to lay and pray.

I love Randy, but I think it will be Gonzaga by either RNC or triangle in the middle of the third round

I wouldnt go as far as to say that, but heavy grapplers have always been a problem for Randy

Randy by decision, he will take Gonzaga into the deep water and wear him out.

So how can you really gauge anything based on that fight?

you can guage his ability to block out personal issues. sounds dumb, but some fighters can do that and it makes them more consistent.

with another kid almost here, who knwos whats going through his head, he's got to be distracted.

I honestly think Gonzaga has Randy's number.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he wiped the floor with Sylvia, but Gonzaga seems to be a much more complete fighter all around. Also, he did dominate Marrero, although I know he's nowhere near Randy's league.

I'd be thrilled if Randy pulled out the win, but I really just don't see it happening.

Either way I'll be happy about the winner of the fight, but I'm thinking Gonzaga will win.
