nothing spectacular, only got two of the five stages. had some brain farts today but nothing i can't work past. since area 4 i've been more relaxed and i think that's contributing to me doing better.

it was a 2.5 hr drive each way so my buddy and i didn't stick around for results but i'll post those when they come in.

Damn, nice job. Cliff is awesome.

I just got the email from John about the shooter who got ND'd on an unclear make ready command. Did you see or hear what actually was said?

No, I was not on that squad.

He's right about the 50/50. I do agree that the RO should say nothing other than "Make Ready" to the shooter at the beginning of the "exchange" but, at the same time, it's the shooter's responsibility to pay attention to what is being told to him.

ND is an ND. Nothing anyone could have said, or not said, could even possibly contributed to an ND.

But if he was DQ'd on account of him "making ready" before he was given the official range command, than shame on the RO, that not only did not do his job, but DQ'ing a competitor on account of that.

    Good shootin' Spank!

I think he meant DQ, not ND.

happened to my buddy at handgun nationals. RO told him to go ahead and step in the box. My buddy ed steps in the box, draws his pistol and takes a sight picture. RO tells him to holster his pistol, he did not give the load and make ready command, and he was done. Technically yes you have to wait for the LAMR command but this was way way iffy. If your going to DQ somebody do it because he did something unsafe or unsportsmanlike. another buddy got DQ'ed at handgun nationals for breaking the vertical 180 on a reload. think about that one for a minute. Did not see it myself but I know the shooter and just cannot imagine him loading the pistol in any manner that would break the vertical 180, yes i can imagine if he was moving latterally to his left and making a reload (that's common traditional 180) but this is a vertical 180! They don't even break the verticle 180 when reloading in movies.

At 3 gun nationals they were DQ'ing people for putting ammo on safe tables, and gun racks. One of my buddies got DQ after his run. He goes to the safe table and sets down his rifle and a magazine with one round in it next to the rifle. automatic DQ. If you shoot 3 gun this is unheard of. There was no distinguishing safe tables with staging tables. It's not like their is signs or color coding or anything. Another guy got DQ'ed for putting his shotgun in the gun rack along with a box of shells on top of the gun rack. During the shooters meeting nothing was said to warn about this. They pretty much just said, be safe and have fun.

The problem is at nationals the RO's are not allowed to shoot the match. It is almost cool for them to DQ people. I've heard them brag about it. I got more horror stories about this year 3gun and handgun nationals. I don't think I will be shooting them in the future.

I do want to shoot the world shotgun event because it's in the US next year, but I hear it's more of the same crap.

You talkin about Nick Santiago? He's a Rudy Project Shooter. I saw the video and think that it's crap that an RO, WHILE STANDING IN THE SHACK 30 FEET AWAY from Nick, called the stop, and NOT the RO holding the timer. On a vertical 180.

When I'm working a major I won't say shit to the shooter before "Make Ready" unless they ask a question. Too many foreign shooters at majors that make ready at the first spoken word.

I give them the "Hello" nod, if they don't go to the start position I point to it, and if they still don't go I just stare at them until they either figure it out or ask WTF.
