I like to have mail open at login whenever I start up my macbook, but is there anyway I can get the program to just open but not the window?

In finder you have the Movies, Pictures, Music. Is there a way to make those point to my external drive folders instead. I know you can drag a folder from the external drive into there, but I kinda like the icons :o

A problem I've also been having is with my macbook not waking up from sleep. I close the lid and then when I return I open it and it doesn't wake back up. I move the mouse, the trackpad, and press buttons and nothing happens. The white light on front is solid and I can hear the fans spinning. I end up having to hold down the power button to turn it off and on.

That's all I can think of right now :hs:

for number 1, dunno if this will work or not but worth a shot.
    1) go to your system preferences
    2) click on accounts
    3) click on login items
    4) make sure "hide" is checked next to the "mail" startup item
    see if that works

for number 2, just change the icons for the folders...

    1) drag all the icons (movies/music...) off the side bar
    2) go to your home directory so you can see all the pretty icons for the folders
    3) open a new window and go to whatever external folders you want instead
    4) do a get info on the home directory "movie" folder, and a get info on the external "movie" folder
    5) select the icon on the top left of the get info window on the home movie folder, and press cmd + c to copy it.
    6) select the icon on the external movie folder and press cmd + v to paste.
    7) that'll change the folder icon

just do that to whatever folders you want then drag them into the side bar

    for the 3rd one
that happens to my ibook every once and a while, i just tap the power button and it'll wake up

you should be able to close the lid...I do...just make sure the apple on the back turns off...
also, you might wnt to look at the energy settings in your system prefs.
