    I have a 01 ram 1500 5.2l 2wd.

    1. At startup a sqeaul starts and continues for a good time. It gets louder with acceleration and quieter without. What could this be? What would be a good remedy?

    2. I bought the truck used, and recently found out the bed is hiked up a little in the back left corner, and looks slanted from the back. Is there any way to level the bed out? Would i have to take it to a body shop?

Sounds like you have yourself a bad belt.

pretty sure about that part :p I just need to figure out whether getting it tightend or replaced would be the best bet.

Most vehicles do. But they can only tension the belt to a certain degree. Once the belt stretches too much, that's when it's time for a new belt.

i can tell you for a fact that the Jeep 4.0 (at least through 96) and AMC 258 do not have tensioners. My power steering pump on my 94 Cherokee has an adjustment bolt on it. By screwing that bolt in/out I adjust the belt tension. Same thing on the 258, but its on the alternator. I'd like to shoot whoever decided to do it that way.

Squealing doesn't necessarily mean it's loose.
    It could be glazed.

Also, tensioners wear out at times too.
Though if this is the original belt it's time to replace.

You might have frame damage causing the bed to tilt.
Have you gone under and looked at all?
    Any signs of body repair?
