So I got an analysis at my gym last week, I have a BMI of 30, and body fat of 24%. I'm 22, and 225lb. Not good, I know. So I read through the EDU to put myself on a diet. I my calculated intake for losing weight should be somewhere around 2900. I setup an account at fitday to stop guestimating, and really count. After today, I only ended up eating 1350, which included eating every 3 hours or so. I felt satisfied, and full.

Am I missing something because I also read I dont want to cut too much or I will have negative results. I went to the gym as well, and did 30 minutes of cardio with some free weights after. It seems from what I have read that I should feel pretty low on calories right now, but I feel fine.

We need more of this in other threads. :bigthumb:

It's great that you decided to do this but don't be like the 99% of people who say they need to go on a "diet" and then fail.

Chicken salad might seem low, but I made my own with canned chicken, light miracle whip, and olives. I also realized I left out the bread from the chicken salad sandwich, which was 70 calories for each slice.

carb macro is a lil insane compared to protein, and 105g is not nearly enough for anyone i think, even a smaller person needs way more than that.
Try eating your carbs in the morning or mid-morning and protein/vegetable or fruit/healthy fats during the day/night.

I used a ratio of about 50% protein, 35% carb, 15% fat for a long time now and its worked very well.

Man looking at this is making me think Im going about it wrong.......

Im using fitday and I am eating about 2000 calories a day, weighing 240lbs, and running 3 miles/3 times a week. Im currently losing 2.5 to 3 lbs a week but Im eating like 175 carbs each day and just about 200 protein........

I guess I have a similairly lousy ratio.....

Its pretty difficult to be high bf when you're 143lbs

I'v been getting good gains from roughly that weight eating 3500 calories. Put on close to 40 pounds in 9 months.

I'm 6'2. I was literally about 135 pounds and now i'm 173ish pounds. I still have visable ab's when they are flexed, like i have put on some bodyfat obviously, but i still feel small compared to the gym rats. I will worry about been super lean when i'm 220 pounds.

At 2200 calories most people lose weight... Do at the very minimum 3000.

My diet rarely changes, so i have entered most custom foods into fitday by now.

I have even got to the point were i eat the same breakfast, followed by full milk coffee and protein shake every morning, so i combined it all in 1 item.

How you could be satisfied on that alone blows my mind.

I was kind of surprised as well, maybe its because I drank alot of water...I'm already at 1100 for the day, so I'm going to have more for the day than yesterday, but even still I dont see myself breaking 2000 which seems odd.

You eat like that every day? I'd be knawing my arm off. Are you sure you don't eat like 1/2 a pizza every once and a while. I used to (like last week) eat boneless buffolo wings at chilis which are 1250 calories in a sitting.

Need your height to be sure, but you really will want to eat at least 2000 cals/day.
1800 is very low and I made the mistake of eating like you are for awhile.
    Its not a good idea.

Over eating if your trying to lose weight would be 3000 calories.

You need to experiment with it, but the last thing you need is to lose weight too fast and lose all muscle mass.

Try 2400 for a while, if your not losing weight, than drop it.
