    Staples has a deal on a Compaq, coming up for Black Friday.

    Compaq Dual-Core 15.4" Laptop w/1GB RAM / 80GB Hard Drive / DVD-RW / Free Printer - $349.98

    Ebay sells the Dell 700m for around 400-600 depending on specs. I got one and I love it. 5 hours of battery life ftw.

    no to compaq or dell; lack of performance in their configs, and horrible build;

    I would agree with compaq and for the most part I agree on the dell thing, but I'm absolutely in love with my 700m and recommend it to anyone who wants a lower spec laptop to tote around. I agree though, the vast majority of dells and nearly all compaq's suck balls.
