Me personally I've given up on the smaller sub-compact laptop they'll be putting out because it won't be powerful enough for me and I don't do enough traveling. I was thinking about a mac pro though for upcoming video projects, and this rumor has my hopes up :o I had an apple cube for a couple months and it was so awesome :hs: ahead of its time :bowhs:

Who has towers right now? Also would you get an octo core tower or one of these streamlined smaller form-factor towers? :noes: or are they fitting 8 cores in these new towers? :run:

yea, imac is their "midrange" pc. And with the huge LCDs they're shoving in them, they're great machines if you don't need the power of the Pro.

But I disapprove of the smaller towers and cubes. Vents on top arn't great for most users (liquids spilling off desks, anyone?). Not to mention that Dual Xeons generate HEAT... Making the box smaller (even if they ramp-up the cooling) just isn't a good idea, imo. I like expandability.

it's not about "windows"... It's about the best processor/mobos on the planet.

When Apple went to Intel hardware, they now have machines that are competitive both in price and performance.

So you're worried that a new compact core2duo won't be powerful enough for you, but you're completely content with the performance of your current PPC based notebook? I'm not sure I understand completely.

I don't worry that a compact core2duo will do the job or not, was just wondering if I'm missing anything staying PPC right now :wiggle:

I was referring to your earlier post that stated you've given up on the idea of a new compact MBP because it wouldn't be powerful enough for your use.

Regardless, obviously if you're happy with the PPC performance, you're not missing anything. Hell, Photoshop CS2 probably runs faster for you than any of us MBP owners.

Oh yeah, I guess I did make that statement. However, keeping in mind I'd keep my powerbook as a laptop and get a tower for more powerful applictions (say, editing a full length feature)
