I need to throw my box in a reliable place, my work cabinent is just eh.

Is $100 for 1U + $25/50gb transfer alright? (it is +$25/U on top of that) plus transfer rates scale on a 100mbps pipe

i mean i am still paying a LOT less than i would be for dedicated :o

    um, no, that's shitty.
Way I see that is 1 server and 50GB transfer for $125. 1 server with 1TB of transfer would cost you $600. on that scale.

You can lease a DEDICATED box with 1TB of transfer on a 100Mbps pipe for under $150 a month.

I have a dedicated server through server matrix for 140$ a month.
    3.4 p4
    1 gig ram
    80 gig HD
    1.5 TB / month

So what you have seems a bit much in price.

I had a cable business account at my house for about $104 a month. They had no limits on bandwidth. Is there anything you are doing that would absolutely require your own server? When I took down the server I had, I said screw the chatroom and email server then went from $104 a month to $7.77 a month for a lot less headache.

I work for a hosting company and our colo service is in the $200+ a month range with only 150gb of transfer. Go dedicated, it's cheaper and you're not financially responsible for the hardware.

Checkout places like ev1, rackspace, the planet.
