So I'm working on this laptop here at the office.

Compaq Presario 2700 running WinXP Home edition. A user brings it to me telling me that it won't boot up. Sure enough, boots to a blue screen with the error UNBOOTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME..

So I throw in my XP disk to run the recovery console and do a chkdsk /r. Upon booting up in setup mode from the CD, I get the error "CORRUPT KPDCLASS.SYS. Press any key to exit setup."

And that's all it'll let me do.

What are my options from this point?

Lol. WTF. I just decided to try again, and now I'm getting another error.. "Unable to start file \I386\NTKRNL.EXE - Setup Error 7"

Let's reboot again and see what the next error is.
