    I need some opinions here.
Winchester,Wolf and S&B all make new ammo in 7.62x54 but there is tons of it out there cheap in surplus ammo. The only problem is that it is berdan primed corrosive.

The bore on my M44 is perfect. How can I protect it / clean it if I attempt to use surplus ammo?

Spray windex down the barrel after shooting then when you get home clean it good, I shoot corrosive in alot of my rifles, I do the windex thing before leaving the range then cleanem when I get home, haven't had any rust up on me.

search on google. There are literally 1000's of articles on how to clean. Nothing negative will happen to your rifle as long as you clean it after every range trip (which you should be doing anyways) with the correct cleaners that neutrialize the crossive materials found in milsur ammo

I clean my Nagant at the range, doing the regular cleaning process. Though I've only brought it out once so far.

    corrosive ammo-
    pros-
    cheap
    more available than non-corrosive

    cons-
    have to clean w/o delay

i use Simple Green for my corrosive ammo. spray on patches and soak barrel. once all the crud is out, run some dry patches then lube as normal. use Simple Green soaked q-tip for bolt face. then follow up w/normal cleaning.
