I have one SBR. 10.5" LMT upper. Thinking of getting JUST another upper....but it should be interchangeable with the registered SBR lower, correct? Or do I need to do another Form 1 for a different size upper? How about amending my Form to include different lengths?

    Just curious.

seems from what I am reading online, it's ok....

I think (don't have my form 1 copy with me now) that I might have put 10.5-16" on the length. could probably call the local BATF office for confirmation.

I'm sure someone else will chime in, but I'm pretty sure you need to let the BATFE know that you have an upper of a different SBR length that you will be using with the registered SBR lower.

Related question : if I have a removable suppressor, do I need to let the BATFE know about different guns that I have that the can will fit?

As far as I know the regulated item is the suppressor. So as long as a threaded barrel is not illegal where you live you are all set.

As long as you still own the upper in the barrel length on your Form 1, it is fine to install any length upper, although to protect yourself legally, you should amend your Form 1 to show both barrel lengths.

If both lowers are SBR it might be a problem since I'm sure you have stripped lowers laying around.

Has to be registered as a SBR or AOW, right? You can have a VFG on a SBR, I thought....?

You can. Vertical grips are a no-no on pistols, SBRs are good to go.

You can't put a VFG on a pistol unless you register it as a SBR.

Whoever told you that you can't put a VFG on a SBR has no clue what they're talking about.

CTD is a bunch of morons.

Vertical foregrips can go on any rifle.

If you put one on one of those retarded AR pistol things, it would have to become a registered AOW

King of makes sense. Just like you can change the barrel on a registered automatic rifle (iirc)

It's my undersatnding hte measurement you put on the FOrm 1 is either what will be on it the most or how it will be stored.

That said, there is the possibility of constructive intent if you have two shorty uppers and only one registered lower. YMMV.

to answer the can question, you register the can and not the gun so that doesn't matter.

That's because machine guns trump all in the NFA world.
