WHEN WE LAST SPOTTED A prototype of Ford’s all-new 2005 Mustang, the tiny photos we published hardly did the car justice. But thanks to yet another spy shooter, we’re able to provide this fairly complete look at Ford’s redesigned sports car inside and out, and in comparison to the outgoing model.

The redesigned 2005 Mustang is still slated for a fall 2004 debut, riding on a platform derived from the premium rear-wheel-drive chassis under the Lincoln LS, Jaguar S-Type and Ford Thunderbird. The new Mustang will offer a range of V6 and V8 engine choices.

Can't judge it quite yet...:sad2: But I'm certain that after comparing it with the concept, I'll be let down.

It's still a year off guys.

The Ford GT came out perfect, so I'm still optimistic for the redesigned Mustang.

it looks like they just took the design before the current one and angled it.

The differnece is that the GT can command a $150k price so not many expenses were spared.

The Mustang on the other hand, has to make it to production as a $20k car. Expect LOTS of cuts....

For a sub-$40k car, that is excellent...what's the matter?

The GT did not cost Ford much to develop and produce at all, read the full story in the American Muscle forum.

If you're really unhappy with what you've seen of the new Mustang so far, I encourage you to write Ford about it ASAP.

Fact is that this might be the first Ford I'd seriously consider buying. I'd sign on for a Cobra based on:

    1) 400+ hp & even better handling

    2) Improved ergonomics

    3) Sexy looks

I'm confident that the body will satisfy wonderfully. But I'm also considering the fact that it will be on the LS/T-Bird platform. And the T-Bird is a design akin to the overweight bastard offspring of a New Beetle that got raped by a Miata. So I know how proud J. mays is of the T-Bird. Let's hope he sets his standards a lot higher.

I will make the bold prediction that this newest Mustang will backfire just like the 1996 Taurus.

in previous spy pics, I could have sworn I saw some guages that indicated forced induction. Any word on if it will be super/turbocharged? :x:

and you will be wrong :)

I think it looks sweet. You can defenently see the resemblance to the 67-68 fastbacks which imo were the best looking mustangs ever made. There are better interior pictures out there and it looks awesome.

I am still completely baffled as to why Ford took this platform and actually went out of their way to design a solid axle rear suspension for it from scratch. It truly boggles the mind. It's as if they don't want this new Mustang to be taken seriously.

because 75% of mustang owners like drag racing and a solid rear axle is better for drag racing?
