I'm a D1 800m runner at Miami University and I'm looking for core workouts and wondering if anyone has any good plans? I have been out of running for about a month now with a stress fracture in my tibia so I have gained a bit of weight (drinking and college food). Running it off wouldn't be a problem when I'm back into it, but I'm looking for some good ab/core workouts so that when I get back out there I'll have pretty good strength still. :x:

Runners and Crew guys at my school do the crossfit 300 type workouts.
25 deadlifts @ 135, 25 box jumps, 25 pushups, 25 leg raises each side holding a 135 weighted BB in press position from your back. (press up to lockout from floor, raise legs in straight toes pointed form to left plate then to middle then to right).
    Seems to kill them.
Think they do multiple circuits of it.

as a former 800m runner, not at your level, I feel your pain. I would secondd the swimming suggestion from above. If you search around the net there are a bunch of good core strengthing programs for runners. main thing is to maintain your flexability during this down time.

what is your best time so far?

Sorry didn't come back to OT last night. My PR is 1:54.84 at the MAC Meet last year. Each year I run I am plagued with some illness/injury, last year being mono. I'm looking to go about 1:52.xx this year.

    I would but I can't swim.
