copying laptop hard drives

    the hd for my laptop turned into a pile of shit today. it will not boot. is there anyway to copy the contents of the hd so i can get my important files

    there are actually laptop HD to IDE adapters so you can plug it into a regular PC and get your files off of it. They're pretty cheap.

    i picked upa adaptec 2.5" enclosure from best buy today and a new 60gig hd as well. occasionally i can browse the files, but as soon as i goto copy them, it disconnects, the laptop said there was problems installing the hardware. am i SOL for the files on my hd?
