Three Men Charged With Possession Of "Cop Killer" Handgun

Three men in Queens have been charged with the illegal possession of a so-called "cop killer" handgun.

The weapon is said to be capable of easily penetrating most bulletproof police vests and plates. The three men facing charges are from the Hammel Houses in Far Rockaway.

Senator Chuck Schumer is among those pushing to have the gun, called the Fabrique Nationale 5.7 outlawed.

It’s the first time that this particular gun has been recovered in New York.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said the "cop killer" gun has a 20-round magazine, is able to shoot 50 to 100 yards with great accuracy and its bullet can pierce 48 layers of Kevlar.

Brown said that of the 616 police officers killed in the line of duty nationwide between 1994 and 2003, 425 were killed with this handgun. :bsflag:

and 425 people? :ugh: what a crock of shit.. criminals dont buy $1000 handguns that require rare hard-to-find ammo.. they buy jennings and ravens..

    Take 616-425
    you get 191
subtract the 60 cops killed in sept 11 alone you get 131
So out of 616 cops killed, only 131 were killed by handguns other that Fabrique Nationale 5.7s?

Write a letter to the editor and carbon copy the author if possible. Usually you get "its not our fault the article is a complete fabrication because..." but sometimes you'll get your letter published. All people need to see if that what the gun control people tell them is a lie.

I emailed them on it, hell I've got an FN brochure sitting next to me that clearly says all armor piercing ammo is sold only to law enforcement and military agencies. Not only that but on the page with ammunition it says that the 5.7mm AP round will penetrate body armor... up to 50 meters away, not 100 yards.

Im pretty sure its legaly just considered an ordinary handgun, but I dont know if Ca has some BS law banning it because its a rifle caliber.

"Isn't any handgun a 'copkiller' in the wrong hands??" :eek3: :noes:

This was my wife's response when I read this post to her.

Then all she said was bullshit when I got to the 'number of officer's killed' section.
