So the local gun shop has an unconverted Saiga 7.62 with one 10rd mag for $340 and Saiga-12 forum has a group buy on conversion kits for $180 shipped.

Who here has converted their Saiga? How difficult was it and how much time did it take you? I consider myself to be mechanically inclined and have a fair amount of tools at my disposal, including a drill press and mill.

Is there any reason I shouldn't buy this, convert it, and throw it on Gunbroker? I don't really want to keep it because I can't afford to stockpile another ammo type and 7.62 is more vulnerable to an import ban.

Unconverted Saiga's can't accept normal hi-cap magazines and they have a shotgun-style stock on them without a pistol grip.

Well now I'm starting to reconsider since I wouldn't get the conversion kit until February. So much for making a QUICK buck.
