This is a very legit question. I have 3 DVD's from when my relatives came from Poland left me. I have one DVD player that will read and play them just fine, but the other ones will not. Is there a simple solution to convert the DVD from PAL to NTSC. If the mod's feel this thread will get out of hand, feel free to lock it.
Thanks for any info if anyone can supply it.

I'm not so sure this is a PAL/NTSC problem as much as it is a region code issue.

    The U.S. is region 1.

Look on the back of the dvd case, and it should say which region it is.

I'm guessing the one that plays in your player is either region free, or it is region 1.

You can find software to change that, but it requires reburning it.

If the disks are indeed PAL, then Nero Vision might be able to convert them to NTSC (as long as they aren't encrypted). I'm not sure how well it works though. Properly converting PAL DVDs to NTSC involves several steps including re-encoding the video at the proper size and framerate, syncing the sound to the NTSC framerate, and then re-authoring the DVD.

It's a PAL/NTSC thing. I have used a couple different programs to get rid of the region thing. I put the DVD's into the players, and they start playing, but the there is no color, the screen is all jumpy, and audio is off. If it was a region thing, they DVD wouldn't even play.

That's somewhat different than what you said in the first post though.

You said you had dvd's that you had gotten from relatives.

What program did you use to change the region codes?

Maybe you can use the same program to re-edit the PAL/NTSC.

    I do have the DVD's.
I used Decryptor to make an ISO. Than opened the ISO with Shrink, and made the movie fit onto 1 Single layer DVD. You do bring on a good point, and I haven't tried this, but maybe I could redo the dvd's with those programs. I haven't dug deep enough yet. Still taking suggestions.

Yes I have. The way I would do it is use DVD Decrypter in file mode to put the files on the computer. Then use convertxtodvd to convert the PAL to NTSC and shrink it to DVD-5.
