I bought Apacalypto on iTunes (first movie I ever bought online). I want to watch it on my TV and I only have the XBox360 hooked up atm, no cable to go from HDI to VGA in.

How can I convert it? I have windows and OS X too.

It is extremely annoying that XBox 360 will only play WMV and this movie is M4V. Fuck MS and Fuck Apple and Fuck Mel Gibson. I am not trying to steal anything and they are fucking me over.

Put XBox Media Centre on your XBox.

Assuming there's a version for the 360, that is ... I haven't been paying attention to their development.

    Edit: Also, see av.

The easy solution is to replace the x-box with an Apple TV box. Problem = solved.

I tried a M4V to WMV converter and it failed.

And I'm not buying another piece of proprietary TV shits. I would just get a Mac Mini and use that, since it can run software to play anything.

I'm not sure what sort of protection Apple puts on movies from the iTunes store. But if it's relatively unprotected, then you could use the tovid tools to make a DVD and then watch that on your TV. That's probably what I'd do :dunno:

AFAIK there is no direct way to circumvent the iTunes DRM. There are indirect ways, for music, such as burning it to CD them ripping it to <your fav. audio format here>.

direct ways exist for music. not sure about the vids. I don't buy them -- just music... and even with that I have an ipod and abide by the eula.

Yeah, fuck that. I bought the damn thing, I'll use it as I please. If I want to snort spraypaint, I damn well will, and the FDA can kiss my ass. If I want to keep a copy of my music on my mp3 player and another copy on my desktop and another copy on a backup DVD, I damn well will.

EULAs aside, there's such a thing as a reasonable expectation of usage. It's the reason why tool companies can't be sued if their crowbars are used to break into houses.

well, you are a fucktard. You dumbshit thief. You bought a DRM-enabled product KNOWING that there was DRM. Don't cry to us about it when there was full-disclosure to begin with. Don't like it? Don't buy it!

Laws exist for specific reasons, and they almost always apply far more generally than they should. I'll give you a simple example: the law says it's illegal to kill people. Why does that law exist? Because a long time ago, one dude killed another dude and everybody else decided they didn't like it. So they made a law that nobody can kill anybody.

But those same people thought (and still do think) that certain people deserve to die, for various reasons, among them being when one person attacks another person and that other person successfully defends themselves. So they made exceptions to the law, called capital punishment and innocence on the grounds of self-defense.

Why did they do that? Because the law was too wide-ranging to begin with. The same is the case with DMCA; just because it's legal for companies to unilaterally draw up user agreements that consumers can only accept entirely or refuse entirely, doesn't mean it's ethical. Eventually holes will be made in the law for the purpose of making it more ethical; until then, I'll make my own hole.

oh fuck no. I *KNOW* you didn't just compare watching a video on your TV to a prudent person finding it reasonable that an individual was in danger of serious physical harm and it was neccessary for him to end another man's life to preserve his own.

I *KNOW* you're not *THAT* fucking dumb.

Bottom-line: REGARDLESS of whether you personally think the policy is "right" or not, it was fully disclosed, and it is NOT the only way to obtain content. Your argument is complete bullshit because you KNEW the policy, you didn't HAVE to break it, and you did anyway. Now you whine about the consequences.

    Grow the fuck up.
