Is there a way to convert a DVDR file to a Xvid file? There is a movie I want to see that is only available in a DVDR format and I don't have a dvd-r drive to burn it. Wondering if I can take the 4gig file and convert it to a watchable file on my comp or if I can even play the 4gig file with a player like VLC.

heres some info on the file

    Resolution....: WS Video.........: 4000 MB/s

Audio Codec...: 5.1 Video Codec...: DVD

You may be able to find a program that can use the DVDR file to simulate a physical disc drive with a physical disc in it. Beyond that, if you want to copy it, you're on your own.

is it an actual file like an image, or is it still on a dvd? If it's an image, something like alcohol 120 will let you mount the image, which will let you watch it with power dvd or vlc or wmp, whatever.

you can mount it with daemon or alcohol, then watch with vlc, or mount the convert with auto gordian knot
