    I have seen many single files on Kazaa and other places...

    I put a DVD on my computer but see all these funky files...

    ...How do I convert all these files into one single media file like .avi, .mpg, etc.

    What programs do I need?

    are there any freeware that i can use to do this..

    DVD -> AVI http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php...tall=1&archive=0&search=Search+or+List+Guides

    DVD -> DivX http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php...tall=1&archive=0&search=Search+or+List+Guides

    DVD -> VCD http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php...tall=1&archive=0&search=Search+or+List+Guides
    This list will show you how to make a VCD, but with some of the guides you'll have a step of making an MPEG1 (mpg) to which you can stop there.
    This one is a good guide for making MPG just skip the "Chapter-X-Tractor" and "VCDEasy" parts http://www.videohelp.com/sefy/?id=ClassicalGuide.html

    DVD -> XviD http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php...tall=1&archive=0&search=Search+or+List+Guides

    Then you're doing something wrong because I've never had any problems with it....not counting the DVDs with copy protection that prevented my PC's DVD-ROM from seeing the disc to start with.

    You followed the steps to the letter and used all the same programs listed in the guide I suggest (the ClassicalGuide)?
