ok, i made the thread called "dvd burner issues" where i described that i bought a new dvd burner but it wont play dvd's or burn them, but it will play cd and burn cd's. it was recommended tht i take it back and get it replaced. so i took it back and the guy put the drive in a pc there, and it worked perfectly so the drive itself is fine. what else could be causing these malfunctions? i heard somewhere it could be that the drive needs more power then my power supply can offer, could this account for the malfunctions?

Well, how big is your power supply?

How many drives do you have in your system?

If you have multiple hard drives/CD drives, try to run the machine with one hard drive and the burner in question and see if that works.
