Someone told me today that taking so many stims can give you a stomach ulcer, is that true? I've been taking something (SuperPump250, NO Shotgun, White Flood, Jack3d, etc.) since like July of 2008 pretty much consistently except for when I was too poor for them and was taking creatine mono & caffeine pills. Am I going to die in 3-5 days or is that kid a fucking retard? :dunno:

    I doubt it.

I take pre-workout stims and drink massive amounts of coffee and I don't have them.

My dad almost died of one and he doesn't take pre-workout stims. :dunno:

Oh I also use hotsauce on almost everything.

maybe for extreme abuse of coffee because its acidic, but more so things like hot sauce, jalapenos can cause them.. gave me GERD thanks to excess acid intake. But for pills probbaly not

Yeah he said it was from coffee, but said it was because of the caffeine, not the coffee...so it's the physical coffee that's bad for you? :dunno:

Probably not much more than fruit juice or anything else you put in your body.

    physiologically speaking:

stims work by activating the sns(fight or flight). doing this de prioritizes digestion (who gives a fuck about digesting when youre getting chased by a tiger, right?)

It shunts blood away from the gut to skeletal muscles, the brain, lungs etc. Lower blood flow to the gastric epithelium can impair their ability to produce the protective mucus and bicarb that keeps pepsin and stomach acid from eating them alive.

So theoretically, stims could possibly cause ulcers...I doubt its likely.

As a side note patients with existing ulcers are told to avoid caffeine as it can aggrivate them(probably by the mechanism outlined above)...but I dont know that its ever been shown to cause them.

    I have a huge GI test tomorrow...think I'll do ok? ;)

no. coffee's acidity doesnt touch whats naturally produced in your stomach ( HCl)

thats if you take them on an empty stomach (which the instructions recommend).

You used to drink it straight?

I got ulcers from ibuprofen... and coffee aggravates it. I used to drink it black and on an empty stomach but now add cream (ftl) and usually with a bit of food.

I've never tried one. I don't have any caffeine at all though so I think it would fuck my shit up. Haven't had a soda in like 9 years. I drank a red bull on New Year's and I was WIRED all night.
