Thinking about getting a Super Wide lens for my Canon Digital Rebel. Any suggestions? I'm thinking something between $400 and $600. Let me know if there's anything OTAP's got. Thanks

That or the Canon 10-22. I'd go with the 11-16 for the constant 2.8 tho

    10-22 on a 1.6.

    I don't seem to see a 10-22mm 1.6, only 10-22mm 3.5-4.5. So now it's between the 10-22mm, 11-16mm, or a 40D...

    He means 10-22 on 1.6x crop sensor, 14mm on a full frame/35mm.

ok, I think I'm going to put the lens on hold and get a 40D. They are relatively cheap and will be much better than my 300D. Plus there are some decent combo deals for them with lenses, etc.

does anyone know why these were getting the error 9 issue? Is it an extremely common problem?

get a used 20d or 30d and save some money

normally I would say better glass > body, but the 300D is pretty old nowadays

and that's why I'm looking to upgrade it. But I figure if this is something that I really want to pursue, then I should at least go a little bit about average. I'm sure the 20D and 30D are great cameras, but if I think someone I know is looking to sell their 40D with a couple 8gb flash cards and a few lenses for about $1100. Seems like a pretty decent deal to me, and the body is in excellent shape.

I haven't discovered the awesomeness of a UWA on FF yet.

I've tried a 17-40mm on a FF, and it was just meh.

a 10mm on a 1.6 crop is equivalent to a 16mm on a ff. :hsugh: the widest i've seen on a ff is 14mm (without going to some crazy fisheye)

I understand that it is wide, but I don't see how it's awesome :o.

you tried 17 on a ff? thats pretty wide for a rectilinear picture.

you could try a fisheye for some serious wideness, but its distorted.
