ok honestly...windoze wins in this department....all i would do is plug ethernet cord into the wall and the port and oh!......it worked....my mac ...it wont work

not in the imac or the macbook. why cant i just plug it in and have it work. i dont want wireless on my imac. i want the chord. what do i have to do to get this shit to fucking work

and yes there is a connection. my roommate has a desktop pc and it works and when plugged into my ps2 it works.

i have never had an issue with eth.

you don't have it set to "Manually" by any chance do you? DHCP FTW

it might also be worth setting the eth connection at a higher priority than the airport if you use eth most of the time.

    to do this
    click the apple
    system prefs
    network
select Network Port Configurations from the show menu
drag the Ethernet connection above the airport connectio
    click apply
    close

your comp will now look to your eth connection first

I would say there's a problem with your settings.

TURN OFF YOUR AIRPORT. Like, on your computer, click Airport, , then Turn AirPort off.

Then let it sit 30 seconds. Plug in the ethernet, again let it sit a few seconds. Then try it.

have you tried setting the DNS manually?
set it as your routers ip and you should be fine.

I agree with the others though and it sounds like your settings to me

....Are you using a router or are you plugging directly into the Cable/DSL modem? If you are plugging in directly to a modem, then you have to reset the modem to allow it to connect to your systems....MAC address.
This would also happen if you are using a Hub or Switch instead of a Router.

I have zero problems jumping between Airport and Ethernet. You must have a setting screwed up or not showing up properly.
