I am connecting my HTPC using an Audigy 7.1 channel sound card to my new Onkyo TX-SR575 7.1 reciever. Currently my surround sound is 5.1 and I have no plans to change that (2 fronts, 2 rears, subwoofer, and center channel). The back of the audigy card has 4 3.5mm stereo plugs (blue, green, pink, and black). The Onkyo reciever has a set of multichannel inputs for fronts, rears, sub, and center.

    Will 3 of these cables:

allow me to connect all the channels from the Audigy to the reciever correctly?

would my solution work though? albeit cheap and non-ideal, would it at least get the job done for proper surround sound channeling?

There are USB digital audio passthru devices from companies like Turtle Beach, they are meant more for notebooks but they would work in a HTPC.

    Thanks :bigthumb:

Definitely getting this: http://www.sondigo.com/store/main?region=na unless there's a better way.

I'm guessing you can still plug in speakers to your soundcard if you use this.
