I know the effectiveness of a condom against pregnancy standing alone is 89-90%. Is this statistic including "breakage"? Isn't it just about impossible for spearm to get through the un-torn latex? That would make it one in ten that breaks, but if it doesnt break its always going to work?

Hit me back with the answer. Holla :hsd:

Thought they were suppose to be like 99.99% effective when used correctly

89% to 90% and there would be a lot of babies running around... hrmm... I do know a lot of people w/ kids so maybe it's true....

Thats what I thought as well. I'm pretty sure the 1/10 takes into effect breakage

The figure of 99.8% or whatever is generally reserved for a woman on oral contraceptive pills, provided that she has been on them for a sufficient time to have a regular, artificial hormone-regulated cycle (1 to 2 months). Condoms are, I believe, around 90-95% effective when used correctly (ie pulling out right afterward, using plenty of water-based lube to decrease the likelihood of a tear, using it only once, putting it on before the penis has approached the vagina) Hope this helps a bit.

Your only suppose to use them once? Oh my - here I have been turning them inside out and giving them a rinse :noes:

BTW I though condoms were 99% Safe too.

    Perfect use is about 90-95%.

Typical use is about 85%. Typical use includes typical condom users, those that claim condoms are their primary source of contraception. So we're looking at user errors, breakage and even pregnancies that occur when not using a condom, as long as the person claims that their primary source is a condom.
