I've heard from many people NOT to learn this language of programming.. but I really cannot see why I shouldn't...

So I asked and all I get is "Its a beginners language only and that's all it will be"

Is there any reason to not learn it, should I move to something else?

Mainly, I want to learn some programming, mainly for game development.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

if you wanna dev games, learn C++ or .Net (either C# or VB.Net). You'll need to learn the DirectX APIs

are you looking for 2D or 3D?

seriously, I've used Delphi a longgg ass time ago and I remember hating it with a passion

truth is for 2d games just about anything will work, even flash :o, and depending on your programming experience, if any, you can find something a bit more advanced then Delpi

Thank you for the info, guess I could bump up to C# or something like that, since MS has a whole development studio for the PC/XBOX.
