For some reason my computer won't detect the ethernet cord anymore. It won't show that it's plugged in at all.

Look inside at the contacts and make sure none of them are bent back. Have you tried a different cable?

one of my mobo's has an onboard ethernet and it just stopped working one day.
lights won't come when you plug in a cord, but device manager says it's still good and it's still configurable in network connections

i ended up just installing a pci nic
