Well I think someone or a virsus fucked my computer up, last night when I was TV I heard my computer reboot for no reason I thought nothing of it and then I just turned the computer off becasue I was just going to go to bed. Well when I tried to boot it this morning it does not go past "Verifying DMI pool Data". So I when and checked the bios setting and changed some setting that looked wrong, like USB keyboard and mouse disable and thats about all I Could find wrong so I saved and rebooted, then I got this "system32\hal.dll missing please reinstall the file. Then I tried fail safe setting on the bios then it just got stucked that the whole DMI pool data thing. So what should I do next? To reinstall the file what do I do? Boot with Windows XP CD.... Also whats the key to boot in to safe mode I forgot. Thanks for the help everyone..

    got engrish?

kinda ironic that you were just telling someone in another thread who's never built a computer and admits to being "stupid about computers" that he should still build one himself because pre-built machines all suck.

This did not happen because my computer was built poorly it happen because 1) I just tunred the computer off and 2) Its Windows. Pre-built computers do suck, go out and buy a HP and see how long it lasts before you have to format.

F8 to boot to safe mode

and pre-manufactured systems don't suck, it's just the pre-packaged software that they include that you probably don't like. I, myself, don't like pre-built systems but they are far from teh suck

    Again...

    your logic > me

just how did Galek_spoo help you with this comment:

"actually my hp laptop lasted 2yrs before i needed to format the drive. so i don't see the problem there."

wait. i get it now. he gave you the idea to format your drive, huh?

better idea. if you're going to format it anyhow, go buy a new drive. install the OS on the new drive, copy your data over from the old one after booting from the new one, then reformat the second drive and use it for extra storage of your files and apps.
